At Changing Tides Equine Rescue, we believe every horse deserves a safe place to call home. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide lifelong sanctuary for horses who have been neglected, surrendered, or are simply in need of a peaceful place to retire.
Our rescue is built on the belief that every horse has value, regardless of age, breed, or past circumstances. We are committed to providing exceptional care, allowing each horse to live out the rest of their life surrounded by kindness, respect, and compassion.
Our Sanctuary Approach
We exist to provide a safe, stable, and dignified future for horses in need. Through rescue, rehabilitation, and sanctuary-based care, Changing Tides Equine Rescue supports equines facing neglect, abandonment, medical hardship, or uncertainty at the end of their working lives.
Every horse is treated as an individual, with care decisions guided by quality of life, safety, and long-term wellbeing. We focus on providing lifelong sanctuary for a small number of horses. Every horse accepted into our rescue becomes a permanent member of our family.
By keeping our rescue small, we are able to provide individualized care, close veterinary oversight, quality nutrition, comfortable housing, and the attention each horse deserves.
What We Do
Rescue & Intake:
We accept horses through owner surrender, trusted community referrals, and other rescue organizations. Each horse is carefully assessed to ensure we can meet their unique needs and provide the specialized care they deserve.
Rehabilitation & Recovery:
Every horse at Changing Tides receives a personalized care plan. This may include:

Sanctuary & Lifelong Care:
All rescue horses are provided lifelong sanctuary under our care. Horses at Changing Tides are never rehomed — once they join our family, they remain with us for life, surrounded by compassionate care and a calm, natural environment.

Finn

Finn is the first permanent resident of Changing Tides Equine Rescue.
He came to us as a surrender after a long and uncertain journey. Finn's owner—and the person who was truly his heart person—sadly passed away, leaving him in the care of her son. Although he loved Finn dearly, his military service and frequent relocations made it difficult to provide the long-term stability Finn deserved. Over the following years, Finn was lovingly cared for by friends and moved between homes as circumstances changed, never quite finding a permanent place to settle.
Today, Finn has finally found that place. At Changing Tides Equine Rescue, he will never have to wonder where his next home will be. Here, he has found safety, comfort, and a family committed to caring for him for the rest of his life.
Gentle, kind, and full of personality, Finn has quickly become a favorite among our volunteers and visitors. After years of giving so much to the people around him, he now enjoys the peaceful retirement he deserves—surrounded by friends, compassionate care, and the security of knowing he is finally home.
