Learning, Giving Back, and Growing Together

At Changing Tides, community is at the heart of everything we do. As we launch our farm programs, we’re excited to welcome schools, families, and individuals to join us in building meaningful connections—with horses, the land, and one another.
Our farm is a gathering space where retired horses, hands-on learning programs, and local partnerships come together to enrich lives, strengthen connections, and support our animals, our land, and one another.
Our Community Programs

We offer a variety of programs designed to engage participants of all ages and experience levels, while connecting them to the traditions of farm life:
-
Equine-Assisted Learning: Structured sessions with our gentle horses support personal growth, emotional regulation, and confidence-building.
-
Educational Workshops: Hands-on experiences in horsemanship, animal care, and sustainable farming practices help participants connect with the land and animals.
-
Youth & School Programs: Local students explore animal care, horsemanship, and land stewardship through field trips, classes, and volunteer opportunities.

The Legacy of Sherrill Farm and Dairy

Changing Tides is proud to be located on a portion of the historic Sherrill Farm property. Founded in 1792, Sherrill Farm played a vital role in the community’s agricultural roots for over two centuries. While the original farmhouse is next door, our farm shares its rich heritage and deep commitment to the land.

The Sherrill family ran a thriving dairy operation here until the early 1980s, featuring milking cows, silos, and horse-drawn milk deliveries that served local families and seasonal residents. Today, Changing Tides honors this legacy by caring for the land and animals with the same respect and dedication.
