Equine Retirement Boarding

Thoughtful care for horses in their next chapter.

At Changing Tides Equine, we provide individualized care for retired and senior horses in a quiet, hands-on environment. Our goal is simple: to give each horse the care, comfort, and attention they deserve.

INDIVIDUALIZED CARE

Every horse has different needs. Daily care and routines are tailored to each individual.

TURNOUT & PASTURE

Thoughtful turnout and pasture management designed around the needs of the horses in our care.

DAILY OBSERVATION

Because we keep our program small, we know our horses and pay close attention to their daily well-being.

EXPERIENCED CARE

Hands-on horse care supported by years of experience and veterinary guidance.

Our Boarding Offerings:

Feeding & Wellness

Each horse receives a customized feed and wellness plan based on their individual needs, age, condition, and routine.

Supplements and medications can be provided and administered as needed at the owner's expense.

We provide:

  • Free-choice hay and access to fresh, clean water

  • Clean, comfortable bedding

  • Daily wellness checks

  • Grooming and bathing as needed

Our small herd size allows us to closely monitor each horse and quickly respond to changes in health, behavior, or routine.

Comfort & Therapeutic Support

We pay close attention to each horse's comfort throughout the changing seasons.

Care may include:

  • Blanket and fly sheet changes based on weather and individual sensitivity

  • Wraps, icing, or other therapeutic support when appropriate

  • A calm, consistent daily routine

  • Attention to both physical comfort and emotional well-being

  • Our goal is to help each horse remain comfortable, relaxed, and cared for throughout every season.

Farrier Services

We coordinate regular trims or shoeing based on each horse's individual needs, comfort, and soundness.

Farrier care is an important part of maintaining mobility and overall well-being, particularly for senior and retired horses.

Peace of Mind For Owners

We know how much your horse means to you — and we care for them like they're our own.

Staying connected and informed is an important part of our boarding program.

Owners can expect:

  • Regular updates, including photos and videos

  • Prompt and transparent communication

  • Updates about health changes or veterinary visits

  • Communication about any concerns that arise

  • The occasional photo or video of the everyday moments that make having a horse so special

  • Our goal is for you to feel confident knowing your horse is safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

Pasture & Stall Options

Horses enjoy turnout in spacious pastures with natural shade and upcoming run-in sheds.

Horses may be grouped in small, compatible herds or individual turnout based on temperament and needs.

We offer flexible turnout and boarding options based on each horse’s routine, health, and comfort, including:

  • Full-day turnout but stabled overnight

  • 24/7 turnout for horses best suited to living outdoors

  • Overnight stabling when additional care, monitoring, or comfort is needed.

  • Turnout and stabling arrangements are discussed individually to ensure the best fit for each horse.

Veterinary Oversight & Care

The health and well-being of every horse is closely monitored, with veterinary guidance available as needed.

We work with trusted local veterinarians for:

  • Routine veterinary examinations

  • Dental care and vaccinations

  • Preventative care plans

  • Management of chronic conditions or special needs

  • Emergency care when needed

We maintain clear emergency procedures and work to respond quickly when a horse's health or comfort changes.

Environment & Enrichment

Our farm is designed to provide a calm, low-stress environment for senior and retired horses.

Quiet routines, safe fencing, well-maintained pastures, natural movement, and daily interaction help support both mental and physical well-being.

We believe that comfort isn't just about meeting a horse's basic needs — it's also about providing a peaceful environment where they can simply enjoy being a horse.

Small By Design

We intentionally keep our boarding program small so we can focus on the individual needs of every horse.

Our small herd size allows us to know each horse's routine, notice changes quickly, and provide care that is thoughtful and consistent.

From daily routines to veterinary and farrier coordination, we take a hands-on approach to managing each horse as an individual.
